All of the printers offer a wide range of horizontal and vertical dot densities, operate quietly, and can load an emulation very easily. Other features are specified in the following sections.

Printer Evolution
The following models have been added to the LP Series:
• LPQ 1000 (Model C3204C)
• LPQ 1500 (Model C3205C / C5640C)
These "C" model printers have a redesigned shuttle frame assembly and hammer bank which are not compatible with earlier models. These models also must use the CMX 040 controller board, which has a 40 MHz clock speed for the Data Controller unit. (The CMX 040 controller board can be installed in earlier model LP printers, but must be used in the new models.)
Printing speed is determined by the interaction of many variables. The speeds listed in the table above are the highest speeds attainable under certain conditions.
The microprocessor of the Data Controller unit on the CMX controller board runs at 25 MHz or 40 MHz, depending on printer model. This means there are two kinds of CMX controller board for these printers, used as indicated in the table above. The 40 MHz controller board, however, is backwards compatible with all models that use the 25 MHz board.
